Spring Valley man wounded in freeway shooting after possible dispute at Indian casino
A 50-year-old man from Spring Valley was wounded early Monday in a freeway shooting that may have followed a dispute at the Sycuan Casino in El Cajon, the California Highway Patrol said.
The shooting closed Interstate 8 as CHP officers looked for evidence on the rain-slickened freeway.
The victim, wounded in the shoulder, drove his Ford F350 pickup to a local hospital. His passenger, a 45-year-old woman from Lemon Grove, was uninjured in the shooting, which occurred at 3:36 a.m., police said.
A dark-colored Toyota Tercel with the gunman and a companion - described as men in their 20s - sped off after multiple shots were fired, the CHP said.
The two groups were seen minutes earlier in a heated discussion at the Sycuan Casino but the relationship between the two is unclear, the CHP said.
