The southbound 405 Freeway from the 101 Freeway to Getty Center Drive in the Sepulveda Pass will close Saturday night for construction.

Lane closures will begin at 11 p.m., officials said. All lanes will be blocked by 2 a.m. Sunday. Lanes are scheduled to reopen about 7 a.m.

Sepulveda Boulevard will be the suggested detour, but Metro officials warned motorists to expect heavy traffic.

Northbound lanes will remain open.

The construction is part of the long-running project to add 10 miles of carpool lane on the northbound 405 through the Sepulveda Pass. The effort has been plagued by delays and cost overruns.
