Anti-Semitic notes left at homes and Jewish center in Ventura County neighborhood
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office released this video of four people believed to be involved in leaving anti-Semitic notes.
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office has created a task force to investigate several anti-Semitic notes left on homes and a Jewish center over the weekend.
Residents discovered the handwritten notes in the unincorporated community of Oak Park about 8 p.m. Saturday. The notes were found outside seven homes and the Chabad of Oak Park, according to Det. Tim Lohman of the sheriff’s office.
The notes contained swastikas and derogatory messages, including one that read: “You’re gonna burn.”
“With the exception of the Chabad of Oak Park, it appears the notes were randomly placed and did not specifically target Jewish residents,” Lohman said in a statement.
Surveillance camera videos recorded four male suspects as they attached notes to the front door of one home and a vehicle, according to Lohman. Authorities said they believe at least four teenage suspects who likely live in the area are involved.
Federal authorities are assisting the sheriff’s office in the investigation.
