Second attacker sought in beating death of Army Ranger
Police have arrested one man and were searching for another in connection with the beating death of an Army Ranger at a Los Angeles nightclub.
Authorities have issued an arrest warrant for Luan Thin Lam, who police say along with Steve Hong, 27, beat to death 24-year-old Albert Song inside ICON Club in downtown L.A. in June.
According to police, just before 2 a.m. on June 2, Song was with a group of friends inside the club when he was knocked down by a punch then pummeled by several people.
Song had recently finished Army Ranger school and was a West Point graduate who earned the rank of 1st lieutenant and was stationed in Honolulu, according to an LAPD statement. Police said Song hadn’t provoked the attack.
Hong was arrested about a month after the attack and has since been charged with murder; he was being held in lieu of $1-million bail. Police announced Wednesday that a warrant was issued for Lam.
