Assistant principal in Hemet accused of sex with three students

A 45-year-old assistant high school principal in Hemet accused of sex crimes with three boys over several months is scheduled to be arraigned on Friday.

Erin Henton, who works at Tahquitz High School, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of sexual battery and other crimes, according to the Hemet Police Department.

Police said she was placed on administrative leave when an allegation was made March 8. The three boys are students at the school, but none of the alleged acts occurred on campus, police said in a statement.

Henton was also arrested on suspicion of oral copulation, abnormal sexual interest in children and sending inappropriate or harmful matter via an electronic device.

Henton will be arraigned on Friday at the Southwest Justice Center in Murrieta. She is being held on $1-million bail, KTLA News reported.

The Hemet Unified School District issued a statement Wednesday afternoon:

“The investigation involving an employee of Tahquitz High School for alleged crimes committed against a minor has resulted in an arrest.

“We take these situations very seriously and have taken appropriate personnel actions in response to this arrest to ensure the safety of our students and staff.”
