A 58-year-old Palmdale resident is behind bars after Los Angeles sheriff’s deputies arrested him Tuesday in connection with a Lancaster bank robbery.

Walter Glenn Compton faces one count of robbery from the March 12 holdup, Lt. David Oliva said.

Last month, a man demanded money from a teller at a Union Bank on West Lancaster Boulevard around 2:30 p.m. and then fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Lancaster station deputies weren’t able to locate the suspect immediately after the robbery but eventually obtained information that resulted in a search warrant for Compton’s home.

Officers said they recovered evidence from the house that they believe is tied to the bank robbery. Oliva wouldn’t specify what that evidence was.

Compton’s arraignment is scheduled Thursday at the Antelope Valley Courthouse in Lancaster.

He is being held at the Palmdale station jail on $100,000 bail, according to the sheriff’s department website.
