Big-rig crashes in rain close freeway in Pasadena two days in a row
For the second straight day, rain and a big rig have created havoc for Pasadena commuters.
About 2 a.m. Wednesday, a big rig crashed into a median wall on the eastbound 210 Freeway where it meets the 134 Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Two more big rigs were soon involved in the wreck, which ultimately shut down the freeway junction until about 8 a.m.
A day earlier, a big rig traveling eastbound on the 210 similarly crashed and shut down the freeway in Pasadena during the morning commute. Southern California drivers are known for being ill-prepared for wet roads, and the two crashes are examples of what can go wrong, officials said.
“A lot of times we do see a number of collisions on offramps, onramps and transition roads,” said Officer Francisco Villalobos. “That’s where there’s curves in the roadway and sometimes people are driving a little too fast for the conditions. They lose control, sometimes hydroplane.”
No serious injuries were reported in either of the past two days’ crashes.
