A man’s body was found Monday in a suitcase dumped in a wash near a Glendale park, police said.

The suitcase was discovered about 9 a.m. by a Los Angeles County Public Works employee cleaning the wash in the 2800 block of North Verdugo Road in preparation for an expected storm, Sgt. Tom Lorenz of the Glendale Police Department told the Glendale News-Press.

The wash is near Glorietta Park. The employee called police after noticing plastic was protruding from the suitcase. Detectives arrived and immediately notified the Los Angeles County coroner’s officer.

The body, which was clothed, appeared to be intact, Lorenz said.

“We don’t know how long it’s been there,” he said, adding that no one has been reported missing in Glendale.

The suitcase was probably dumped into the wash at night, he said. Detectives planned to interview nearby residents to learn if they saw anything, Lorenz said.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at (818) 548-3987.
