A battalion chief with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection was being sought Thursday night in connection with the fatal stabbing of a woman who was found dead in her Sacramento County home, according to law enforcement authorities and media reports.

Deputies found the victim after responding to a report of a dead person inside the home in the 9300 block of Fox River Way in the southern part of the county, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department. The victim’s name was not released because relatives had not been notified.

Sgt. Lisa Bowman said in a statement that detectives are seeking Orville Fleming, 55, in connection with the stabbing. Fleming lived at the home and may have ties to the Clovis and Fresno area, she said.
