A woman was peacefully taken into custody hours after barricading herself inside her Castaic mobile home Wednesday, authorities said.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said the 44-year-old woman kidnapped a construction worker from a roadside construction site around 10 a.m. by forcing him into his own vehicle at gunpoint, and making him drive her down the road.

She got out of the vehicle close to her residence in the 27700 block of Parker Road and then barricaded herself inside her home, authorities said.

Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Bureau and Special Weapons Team personnel arrived on site. The woman was alone in her residence in Lakehills Mobile Estates, and was armed with a handgun, according to the sheriff’s department.

About four hours later, shortly before 2 p.m., the woman voluntarily came out of her mobile home and was taken into custody.
