After L.A. Clippers Matt Barnes’ appeal, arrest made in aunt’s killing

After a personal appeal on social media by Los Angeles Clippers forward Matt Barnes to find his aunt’s killer, Sacramento police Tuesday said a male suspect had been arrested.

Barnes in recent days had taken to Instagram to post photographs of the suspect, Michael Williams, and asking his followers to keep an eye out for the man wanted in connection with the slaying of his aunt, Tanganyika Hoover, 48.

Police said Williams was apprehended in the Sacramento area thanks to a citizen’s tip.

Hoover was estranged from Williams when he allegedly attacked her July 8. In his social media posts, Barnes described his aunt as being stabbed in the neck and left to die on a sidewalk, eventually succumbing to her injuries in an ambulance.

On July 23, Barnes again posted his appeals, noting it had been two weeks and the suspect was “still walking around.” He attached the hashtag #RIPAuntieTang.
