Cyclist has gun, 5 knives and baton, tells police: ‘Good to be prepared’

A bicyclist was arrested in Huntington Beach on Wednesday night allegedly toting a small arsenal of weapons.

Police said they stopped Jeramiah Hall, 29, when they saw him riding his bike the wrong way down the road and without a light. A check of the cyclist, however, turned up a loaded handgun, seven loaded ammunition magazines, five knives and a baton, police say.

A police spokeswoman expressed alarm.

“This is highly unusual,” said Jennifer Marlatt. “You don’t find that many weapons on somebody unless they had bigger plans.”

Hall, however, told police that it was “just good to be prepared,” according to Marlatt.

Hall does not have a criminal history and complied with officers, Marlatt said.
