Man found dead in Monterey Park may have been beaten
Homicide detectives are investigating the death of a man whose body was discovered Wednesday in Monterey Park.
It was unclear how the man, whose identity was not released, died and few details were immediately available. But a Los Angeles County coroner official said the man was reportedly beaten.
The body was found at 3:40 a.m. Wednesday in the 500 block of Florence Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

According to the Homicide Report, the last killing in Monterey Park was of 25-year-old Emmanuel Joseph Franco, who died Feb. 15, 2013.
In 2010 there were four homicides in Monterey Park, three in 2011, four in 2012 and one in 2013, according to a Times analysis of homicide data.
