Killer, serial rapist gets death penalty in O.C. attacks
A serial rapist in Orange County was sentenced to death Friday for sexually assaulting and killing a woman, raping three others and physically assaulting another woman, prosecutors said.
Waymon Livingston, 29, was found guilty in February of several felony counts related to murder and rape, as well as one count of aggravated assault, according to the Orange County district attorney’s office. In March, the jury had recommended that he face the death penalty.
Prosecutors said that from 2005 to 2007, the Stanton resident raped and attacked several women in Anaheim, Stanton, Costa Mesa and Fullerton.
In 2006, prosecutors said Livingston raped a motel housekeeper in Stanton and the following year strangled and raped a private masseuse in Costa Mesa.
In late 2007, prosecutors said he murdered a 21-year-old prostitute in an Anaheim motel room.
About a month later, prosecutors said he assaulted a prostitute in an Irvine hotel room, and a day later, strangled and raped a woman in a Fullerton hotel room.
He was linked to the crimes through DNA evidence and was arrested by Anaheim police on Oct. 11, 2007, prosecutors said.
Prosecutors said he is also accused of raping a prostitute on Aug. 21, 2005, in an Anaheim parking lot, however the jury was unable to reach a unanimous verdict.
