Authorities say a vehicle driven by a man under the influence collided with a disabled car on the 91 Freeway in Corona early Sunday, causing a fiery crash that killed one person and seriously injured another.

Adrian Maude of Menifee was driving eastbound on the freeway near Green River Road shortly after 4 a.m. when his vehicle ran into the back of a Honda, which was stuck in one of the lanes because of an earlier accident, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The Honda became engulfed in flames after the crash involving Maude. Its driver escaped and was treated for serious injuries at UC Irvine, but a female passenger was unable to get out and died at the scene. The Riverside County coroner had yet to release her identity Sunday morning.
