A shooting in El Monte that left three people dead appears to be a double murder-suicide, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department officials said.
About 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, El Monte police responded to the 9900 block of Marshall Street to a report of a gunshot victim. When they arrived, officers found three dead -- two women and a man. Detectives have concluded that the male victim shot the two women before turning the gun on himself.
The identities of the three were not immediately available Wednesday. The Sheriff's Department is aiding El Monte police in the investigation.
Since January 2007, at least 30 homicides have been reported in El Monte, according to The Times' Homicide Report database.
