Homes, condos burn in 6-alarm fire in Emeryville
Flames tore through town homes and condominiums after a fire erupted early Wednesday in five-story building in Emeryville, fire officials said.
Oakland and Alameda County firefighters used drones and long hoses to battle the six-alarm blaze as it consumed the building, which was under construction in the 3800 block of San Pablo Avenue, fire officials said.
The blaze, which broke out at 3 a.m., quickly spread to neighboring town homes and condominiums, fire officials said. Nobody was injured in the fire.
Fire officials said the Bay Area building was a total loss.
Firefighters are investigating the cause of the blaze, which forced nearby residents to evacuate, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.
The East Bay city of Emeryville is between Oakland and Berkeley.
