A shooting Wednesday in Compton left one man dead, another man injured and a third unharmed, authorities said.

About 11:45 a.m. in the 900 block of West Poplar Street, a group came upon the three men, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Grace Medrano said.

A man in the group brandished a gun and fired at the three men. The group fled the scene in a vehicle, Medrano said. Investigators don’t have a description of the vehicle and did not know in what direction the assailants fled.
