To better connect with diverse, tech-savvy constituents, Mayor-elect Eric Garcetti on Saturday announced two new digital tools for his inaugural celebration.

The first tool is hashtag #lamayor, for those who want quick access to his office via Facebook and Twitter. There is also an app that you can download to follow Sunday’s festivities.

It’s packed with a schedule, maps, direct connectivity to social media and is available for iOS, Android, Blackberry and Web-enabled devices.

“I’m committed to using new tools and technologies to make City Hall work better and to bring government closer to the people it serves,” Garcetti said. His staff members will monitor posts and tweets using #lamayor.

Kicking off Sunday’s gathering, Garcetti is asking Angelenos to take advantage of #lamayor to share what they treasure most about Los Angeles. And starting Monday, he hopes residents will use the hashtag to ask him questions, let him know what problems can be fixed, even how he can improve in his job duties.
