A 2-year-old girl in Highland Park was killed Tuesday night when a trundle bed collapsed on top of her, Los Angeles police said.

The girl was being baby-sat in the 5200 block of Glen Ellen Place when she disappeared at about 7 p.m. The baby-sitter and neighbors began frantically searching for the girl and eventually found her under the bed, KTLA reported.

The lower second mattress, which would typically be stored under the main bed, had been pulled out and raised and apparently fell on the child, police said.

The girl’s parents were interviewed by police Tuesday night, but no arrests have been made, LAPD Officer Robert Albert told The Times.

“It seems like it’s an accident, there was no indications of foul play,” he said.

The girl, who was not identified, appears to have died under the weight of the bed, Albert said. The girl was rushed by paramedics to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.
