@HiddenCash plans more money drops in Southern California this week
The much-anticipated @HiddenCash scavenger hunt returns to L.A. this week.
The donor behind the Twitter account @HiddenCash is returning to Los Angeles this week, more than a month after his money drops created a frenzy throughout the region.
On Sunday, the popular Twitter account announced the hidden cash drops would be made Monday in Fresno and then for four days starting Thursday in Los Angeles, Orange County and the Inland Empire.
It is not clear how many drops @HiddenCash plans to make.
Last month, the donor behind @HiddenCash identified himself on CNN as Bay Area real estate investor Jason Buzi. He had remained anonymous for weeks after organizing scavenger hunts throughout the state and tweeting about it.
His tweets quickly gained hundreds of thousands of followers and became viral.
Soon enough, local television footage showed crowds of followers searching for his hidden cash envelopes in Burbank and the Huntington Library in San Marino.
Followers engaged Buzi by tweeting photographs of themselves with the cash.
He told CNN’s Anderson Cooper he had success in real estate and wanted to give back. Buzi said he gave away between $10,000 and $15,000 since he started making drops in San Francisco.
During the Fourth of July weekend, Buzi reportedly hid cash in Pez dispensers along a San Diego beach.
He made a similar drop in late May at Hermosa Beach, where he hid money in 36 Angry Birds figurines.
Buzi announced he planned to bring the “Pez tour” to Los Angeles this week.
