Glendale high school instructor accused of sexually assaulting minor
A public safety instructor at Herbert Hoover High School in Glendale has been arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a minor on campus, according to the Glendale Police Department.
Delvon Jackson, 38, was charged Friday by the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office with three felony counts of lewd acts on a minor and a single felony count of an unlawful sex act, the police department said.
Police said Jackson allegedly engaged in sexual acts with a female victim on three occasions earlier this month.
Authorities said they were notified of the alleged assault on Tuesday and Jackson was arrested on Wednesday.
Investigators said Jackson may have led some people to believe that he was a former Inglewood police office.
Police said that by telling people he was a former police officer, Jackson may have been striving to “gain respect and trust” with students.
Jackson was never a sworn police officer, investigators said, but had worked part-time in parking control for the city of Inglewood.
In a statement, the Glendale Unified School District said administrators took swift action after being alerted to the alleged assault and removed Jackson from campus, where he was an hourly employee.
