The Hunters fire that’s been burning near Yosemite National Park since Monday is expected to be completely contained by next week, state fire officials reported.

The blaze in Mariposa County has burned 677 acres and is now 90% contained, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. It’s expected to be fully under control by Monday.

The most accurate mapping yet of the fire’s damage reduced its total acreage nearly by half. Officials at one point had estimated the burn area at 1,300 acres before it was reduced on Thursday.

Crews are expected to put out hot spots within the blaze’s perimeter as winds continue to die down, CalFire reported.

The fire burned two unoccupied homes, one smaller building and injured nine firefighters. Evacuation orders affecting more than 100 homes were lifted earlier this week.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
