Three firefighters injured in three-alarm blaze in City of Industry
Three firefighters were injured Tuesday as a massive blaze consumed an abandoned warehouse in City of Industry, officials said.
The three-alarm fire started about 10:20 a.m. and was isolated to the commercial building on Clark Avenue, fire officials said.
Two firefighters were hit by heat exhaustion, said Los Angeles County Fire Inspector Tony Akins. A third suffered a minor back injury, according to media reports. All three were treated at local hospitals, Akins said.
Firefighters initially went into the building to battle the blaze, but had to evacuate as the flames weakened the walls. By 1:30 p.m., TV images showed that much of the building’s walls and roof had collapsed.
About 100 firefighters were battling the blaze. Its cause is under investigation.
