Casey and two women were sitting inside an SUV when a man approached and began shooting at them, Los Angeles Police Sgt. Marvin Mancia told The Times.

Casey was pronounced dead at the scene. The two women suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect was struck by a vehicle as he attempted to flee. He later was arrested by police officers who heard the gunshots, police said.

The suspect’s name was not immediately available.

Detectives with LAPD’s Olympic Station who are investigating the case could not be reached for comment.

Only one murder took place last year in Koreatown. There have been two so far this year, according to the Homicide Report.

In all, about 30 homicides have occurred in the neighborhood since 2007.
