L.A. Now Live: Discuss LAX shooting report’s criticisms, response
Join Times staff writers Dan Weikel and Laura J. Nelson for an L.A. Now Live online discussion Wednesday at 11 a.m. about a new report on last year’s shooting at Los Angeles International Airport that is critical of the communication and coordination among responding agencies.
The deadly Nov. 1 shooting left a Transportation Security Administration officer dead and three others injured.
The report released this week found that firefighters and paramedics had trouble determining where to go while responding to the emergency and that authorities took too long to set up a unified emergency command center.
“The biggest failure was the lack of communication,” Mayor Eric Garcetti said at a news conference after the report was released. “People were with no information by and large for too many hours and that was unacceptable.”
During the 11 a.m. chat, Weikel and Nelson will answer questions and address how officials and authorities plan to respond to the criticism.
