Stay up to date on the Los Angeles election throughout the evening with Times reporters who will provide updates on the races.

At 8 p.m., Times political writers Jim Rainey and Seema Mehta will handicap the race in a video discussion live from The Times newsroom.

At 10 p.m., Times political writer Michael Finnegan will give an update on the ballot counting.

On Wednesday at 9 a.m., readers can join The Times’ Catherine Saillant with questions about the elections.

On Wednesday starting at noon, Rainey and Maeve Reston will host a two-hour broadcast breaking down the results.

In Mt. Washington, home to one of the most active voter precincts in Los Angeles, the mayor’s race drew voters to the polls.

Kate Amend, a film editor, wanted to cast a vote to make history.

“I voted for Wendy Greuel,” she said. “I’m excited to have a woman for mayor.”

Attorney George Terterian, 47, meanwhile, said he thought both mayoral candidates were good, but added: “I’m a bit disheartened that Wendy Greuel went very negative, though, and that sort of lost my vote for her.”

A slow, steady trickle of voters passed through the polling station early Tuesday morning at Park La Brea, the largest housing complex west of the Mississippi River and home to three precincts and an increasingly diverse residential community.

Contractor John Malloy, 69, said he liked both mayoral candidates so much that he was still torn when he walked into the polling booth. They’re both good candidates, he said, but he finally decided to vote for Greuel.

“I think it’d be nice to have a lady mayor, get rid of the good ol’ boys,” said Malloy, who found Greuel very personable when he met her at a reception this year. “She seems like a person who’ll get things done.”
