L.A. weather: Santa Ana winds, warm temperatures to kick off Monday

Share

The greater Los Angeles area will experience “significant warming” and gusty winds Monday, forecasters warned.

The Santa Ana winds are expected to last through midday, reaching from 20 to 30 mph, with gusts of up to 50 mph in some parts of Los Angeles and Ventura counties, according to the National Weather Service.

Temperatures, meanwhile, are expected to the mid-80s in the valleys and inland areas, and mid-70s at the beaches.

The high winds and temperatures are the result of a high pressure system developing over the region.

In some parts of the region, wing gusts could be even stronger than in Los Angeles and Ventura counties, blowing as fast as 60 mph, forecasters warned. Motorists were urged to be careful of sudden crosswinds.

The warming trend is expected to last through Wednesday, when a cool off will send temperatures back into the mid-70s inland and 60s at the beaches through the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
