Woman killed, others injured in Lancaster collision
Officials on Sunday were investigating the circumstances of a two-vehicle collision in Lancaster that killed a woman and sent several other people to the hospital with serious injuries.
The crash occurred about 6:40 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of 25th Street East and Lancaster Boulevard, said Sgt. Sean Boog of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Six people were traveling in a Nissan van when it collided with a Hyundai Sonata.
Three people who appear not to have been wearing seat belts were ejected from the van, including a woman in her early 30s, who was pronounced dead at the scene, Boog said.
The female driver of the van and other passengers, including a 2-year-old, suffered serious injuries and were transported to hospitals. The male driver of the Hyundai was also transported to a hospital and was in critical condition, Boog said.
Indications are that the van failed to stop completely at the intersection, “but we don’t know whether that or other factors such as speed were the cause,” Boog said.
