A news conference by the L.A. Unified School District is underway on the fatal crash of a charter bus carrying area high school students and a FedEx freight truck.
Nineteen LAUSD students were among those aboard the bus, which was struck head-on Thursday evening in the accident on Interstate 5 in Orland, Calif.
The dead included five students, three adults who were chaperoning the trip and the drivers of the truck and the bus.
Three buses had been chartered for the 12-hour ride to Humboldt State University, where prospective students were going to tour the campus this weekend.
