An autopsy was expected to be performed Thursday after a man was found dead in his Long Beach apartment.

Police are investigating the death of a 42-year-old man whose body was found in his apartment in Long Beach.

The body of Rob Ames was found by a maintenance worker at the Lofts at Promenade apartments in downtown Long Beach on Wednesday night, KTLA reported.

The worker went into Ames' apartment in the 200 block of Long Beach Boulevard after Ames’ mother reported not hearing from her son for a few days, according to KTLA. An autopsy is pending and a cause of death was not immediately clear.

Long Beach police were not immediately available for comment.
