More than two weeks after authorities pleaded for the public’s help, a 26-year-old Riverside County man has been arrested on suspicion of fatally striking a bicyclist with his car in Eastvale and fleeing the scene.

Casey Coltrain was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder and hit-and-run in connection with the April 25 death of 21-year-old Troy Davids, according to Riverside County sheriff’s officials.

Last month authorities distributed fliers to motorists near Limonite Avenue and Hamner Avenue, the site of the crash, seeking information. At least five people came forward, authorities said.

Davids was reportedly riding home from his job at Vons southbound on Hamner when he was struck about 12:12 a.m. by a black sedan traveling west in the eastbound lanes of Limonite, according to sheriff’s officials.

The sedan drove through a red light at the intersection and fled the scene, according to the department.

Davids was taken to an area hospital, where he died of his injuries.

A memorial page for the cyclist was created shortly after his death.

Davids was a graduate of Norco High School, where he played tennis, according to the website, which said he was passionate about helping others and had “a heart of gold.”
