A 39-year-old Anaheim man was convicted Thursday of sexually assaulting two boys and using a video camera to record the incidents.

Oscar Manuel Vaquera assaulted an 11-year-old boy once between 2007 and 2008 while the victim was visiting a family member at a home where Vaquera lived in a room, according to the Orange County district attorney’s office.

Prosecutors said the victim was sleeping at the time and that Vaquera recorded the sexual assault with a video camera.

Vaquera also was convicted of sexually assaulting a boy who was between 9 and 11 years old and recording that incident. That took place between 2009 and 2011, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors also said Vaquera drilled a hole from his closet into the bathroom and secretly recorded and photographed young boys as they showered and used the restroom.

Anaheim police launched an investigation after tracing a download of child pornography to the home where Vaquera lived. He was arrested in March 2012 after police searched the home and found child pornography.

Vaquera is scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 8 and faces up to 33 years to life in state prison and lifetime sex-offender registration.
