Man held after allegedly dragging O.C. deputy with a vehicle
A 44-year-old Garden Grove man was being held Wednesday on suspicion of attempted murder, battery on a peace officer and resisting arrest he allegedly dragged an Orange County sheriff’s deputy with a vehicle during a traffic stop.
Dennis Wayne Ross was pulled over by deputies Tuesday night in an unincorporated area near Anaheim.
Deputies discovered that Ross had arrest warrants for being under the influence, methamphetamine possession and violation of a domestic violence court order, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
As the deputies tried to take Ross into custody, he took off in his vehicle and dragged one of the deputies about 100 feet, according to the department.
The deputy received minor injuries and was treated and released at a hospital.
Ross also received injuries and was treated at a hospital before being booked at the Orange County jail. Department officials did not say how Ross was injured.
