A driver was in custody Tuesday after his car allegedly struck and killed a man in North Hollywood, police said.

The victim, in his 30s, was standing behind a parked van on the 7300 block of Clyborn Avenue about 6 a.m., putting on shoes, when he was crushed between the moving car and the van, said Sgt. David Delgado of the LAPD’s Valley Traffic Division.

“The collision actually forced the vehicle that was hit into two other parked vehicles,” Delgado said.

A female passenger in the car that hit the victim received minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital, authorities said.

There were conflicting reports regarding another person involved in the accident. The Valley Traffic Division said a man in a parked car sustained minor injuries but was not taken to the hospital.

The Los Angeles Fire Department reported that a second male pedestrian was also struck by the car and taken to a nearby hospital.

The male driver remained in custody, and the investigation was ongoing. Police did not release the names of any of the individuals involved in the incident.
