Suspects may have rammed car before stabbing man in Santa Clarita
A man who was stabbed and nearly killed in Santa Clarita over the weekend was in a parked car beforehand that may have been intentionally rammed by his attackers, authorities said.
The 25-year-old man was stabbed in the 23600 block of Newhall Avenue at about 8 p.m. Sunday, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The man “was severely wounded” and taken to a hospital “where he underwent emergency surgery in order to save his life,” according to a statement from the department.
The man was in the intensive-care unit, authorities said, but he was expected to survive.
Authorities also said that the man was in a parked car when a Chevy Impala with two male occupants crashed into the victim’s vehicle. It’s possible the crash may have been intentional, they added.
After the collision, one of the men got out of the car and confronted the 25-year-old, who was stabbed before the suspects fled in their car.
Authorities did not release the identity of the victim.
The incident shocked residents, who told reporters the area is usually quiet and safe.
“I moved here from Burbank to get away from the Valley and all that nonsense. Now I’m thinking we need to move more north,” Robin Young told KTLA-TV Channel 5.
