Marine helicopter makes emergency landing in Los Angeles River
A Marine helicopter from Camp Pendleton made an emergency landing Monday in the bed of the Los Angeles River near South Gate.
Neither of the two pilots on the AH-1W was injured. There were no injuries on the ground, officials said.
The helicopter made the landing about 12:40 p.m. after one of the pilots read a cockpit gauge and noticed a possible low rpm rate.
Another helicopter from Camp Pendleton was dispatched to the scene with a maintenance crew. By 6 p.m., the helicopter that made the emergency landing returned to the base.
