Three men who went missing while hiking in the mountains above Sierra Madre were found early Thursday after an overnight search, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

One of the hikers used a cellphone to call the Sierra Madre Police Department for help after getting separated from his friends in an area between Sierra Madre and Mt. Wilson Observatory around 9:15 p.m., authorities said.

A Los Angeles County Fire air unit located all three men around 3:20 a.m., according to Deputy William Harrington of the Temple Sheriff’s Station.
