More than quarter inch of rain falls in San Gabriel Mountains
More than a quarter of an inch of rain was reported in the San Gabriel Mountains as moderate to scant traces of precipitation were recorded Thursday night across the Los Angeles area.
Shortly after 9 p.m., 0.31 of an inch of rain had fallen at Morris Dam above Azusa in the San Gabriel Mountains, according to the National Weather Service. At the nearby San Gabriel Dam, 0.12 of an inch of rain had been reported.
At the Hollywood Reservoir, 0.04 of an inch of rain had fallen. At Lake Piru in Ventura County, 0.04 of an inch was reported, the Weather Service said.
Up to an inch of snow could also fall as a result of the cold front that limped across the region. Any snowfall would be on northern slopes of mountains from 6,000 to 8,000 feet in Ventura and Los Angeles counties, said Scott Sukup, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service’s Oxnard office.
Any snow that does fall won’t last long.
“Tomorrow, it will quickly melt off,” Sukup said.
