A man who was killed Saturday when he lost control of his motor scooter, slid into an intersection and was struck by another vehicle has been identified, officials said.

The victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene, is Francisco Javier Silva, 25, said Lt. Fred Corral of the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office.

The accident occurred about 3:45 p.m. when Silva’s 2000 Honda scooter slid into the intersection of Hardwick Street and Woodruff Avenue in Lakewood, said sheriff’s Sgt. Joe Reveles.

“What he was doing and in what direction, I have no idea,” Reveles said.

The vehicle that hit Silva was reportedly heading north and making a left turn onto Hardwick when the crash occurred, he said. The driver, described only as a man who was about 50 years old, was not arrested or cited, officials said.
