Stolen Tesla crashes in West Hollywood; 1 in critical condition

One person remains in the hospital after a Tesla crashed into a building on La Brea Avenue in West Hollywood early Friday morning, authorities said.

The unidentified person may have been driving the car, according to police. The Tesla was reported stolen from a dealership in the 5800 block of Centinela Avenue around 12:51 a.m., according to Officer Christopher No of the Los Angeles Police Department.

The driver of the Tesla led two officers on a short chase, at one point driving up La Brea Avenue at close to 100 mph, according to authorities. The police crashed their car near the corner of La Brea Avenue and Don Ricardo Drive. The Tesla hit several other vehicles, according to news reports, before splitting in two.

Several other drivers were hurt in the crash, although it is unclear how many.

The two police officers were treated for minor injuries at the scene and then released, police said.
