O.C. canyon fires that destroyed 2 cabins are contained
Firefighters in Orange County were able to fully contain three small brush fires that destroyed two cabins in the Cleveland National Forest and forced evacuations.
The fires, which were reported shortly after 6 p.m. Wednesday, burned about two acres in the Holy Jim Canyon area, not far from Trabuco Canyon, fire officials said.
More than 100 firefighters were on scene as of 8:30 p.m., Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Steve Concialdi said, and the fires were fully contained late Wednesday night.
The fires prompted authorities to evacuate nearby residents. Live Oak Canyon and Trabuco Creek roads were also closed.
A man at one of the burned-out cabins suffered first- and second-degree burns on his arms, KTLA-TV reported. He declined to be transported to a hospital, officials said.
