Woman wanted in partner’s slaying killed by police in Santa Ana
A woman suspected of shooting her girlfriend to death on a sidewalk in Orange last week has been killed by Santa Ana police, according to multiple reports.
Jessica Gonzalez, 35, was shot and killed by police in the 800 block of S. Townsend Street at about 8 a.m. Sunday after she allegedly pulled a fake gun on officers, KTLA-TV reported.
Two patrol officers were in the area when they were confronted by Gonzalez with the fake gun, the station reported.
Gonzales was wanted in the Thursday afternoon shooting death of Jennifer Solorio, 44, on the sidewalk outside an apartment complex in Orange. KABC-TV reported Solorio and Gonzalez had been in a relationship for 13 years.
Licha McLellen told KTLA that Gonzalez was her sister and was the woman killed by Santa Ana police Sunday.
“We loved her. She was a human, and we know that she’s resting in peace right now,” McLellen told KTLA.
The station also interviewed Gonzalez’ friend, Sonia Martinez.
“She was a sweetheart that snapped,” Martinez said. “Jessica wanted to kill herself. She laid right there with Jennifer, but she didn’t have anymore guns … no bullets.”
“I seen her yesterday. As a matter of fact, I had her with me all day yesterday,” Martinez said. “When everything was on the run, I had her with me. I didn’t care.”
Police and coroner’s officials were not immediately available for comment early Monday.
