A couple was fatally shot in front of their home in Pomona late Friday night, and the gunman remains at large, police said.

The man and woman were sitting on their porch in the 1000 block of East Lexington Avenue when they were shot about 11:45 p.m. Friday, according to the Pomona Police Department.

The man, 59, died at the scene. The 49-year-old woman was transported to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center, where she succumbed to her wounds, police said.

The names of the victims were being withheld until their families could be contacted, authorities said.

The couple was not robbed, and no motive is known at this time.

“We don’t have any idea who shot them,” said police Lt. Ronald McDonald. “It’s not believed to be gang related.”

Detectives urged anyone with knowledge of the shooting to call the Pomona police tip line at (909) 620-2085 or (800) 222-8477. Tips can be anonymous. Those who provide information leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspect could be eligible for a $10,000 reward.
