Possible pipe bomb on bus leads to lane closures on 110 Freeway

Traffic was backed up on the southbound 110 Freeway through downtown Los Angeles after a suspicious object found on a Montebello bus Sunday night prompted the closure of a connector road feeding several ramps, officials said.

California Highway Patrol Officer Alex Rubio said the connector road that leads to the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th Street offramps would remain closed until 3:30 a.m. Monday.

The closure was requested about 10 p.m. by Los Angeles Police Department bomb squad investigators, who responded to a report of a possible pipe bomb found on the bus, which was parked along Beaudry Avenue, between 6th and 4th streets.
