4.4-magnitude quake hits near Fontana east of Los Angeles
No injuries or major damage were reported in areas in the vicinity of a magnitude 4.4 earthquake that struck early Wednesday morning about three miles north of Fontana.
The earthquake occurred at about 1:35 a.m. at a depth of 3.2 miles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The Fontana and Rialto police departments and the Los Angeles County Fire Department reported no injuries or major damage from the temblor.

Though no major damage was reported, many residents took to Twitter to describe how they were affected, with some describing glasses falling out of cupboards and picture frames knocked off walls.
The ground-shaking event comes a day after Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti unveiled a new plan to tackle earthquake safety. That effort includes a new campaign to strengthen vulnerable buildings.
The announcement was made in the lead-up to the 20th anniversary of the destructive Northridge earthquake.
