Man killed on Red Line tracks in Hollywood; service is delayed
A man was killed Tuesday morning when he was struck by a Metro train on the Red Line at the Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street station, causing significant delays for morning commuters, the Los Angeles Fire Department said.
The man, who was not immediately identified, was hit about 5:30 a.m. on the eastbound track and pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.
Emergency workers immediately turned off power to the track where the crash occurred and briefly closed the station before restoring limited service. Trains are running on only one track through the station, causing delays of up to 25 minutes, said Metro spokeswoman Kim Upton.
The investigation into the incident remained ongoing.
