Redondo Beach police shoot, wound man during domestic disturbance call

Redondo Beach police shot and wounded a man during a domestic disturbance call Friday night, authorities said.

Officers responded to the 2100 block of Manhattan Beach Boulevard about 11:35 p.m., according to a statement from the Redondo Beach Police Department.

When an officer arrived, he encountered Kermit Johnson, 54, of Redondo Beach, outside the home and shot him, according to the statement.

Johnson was hit in the hand and suffered minor injuries, according to the release.

A gun was recovered at the scene, the department said.

Johnson was taken to a hospital for treatment and booked into jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, the department said.
