Divers find no sign of possible second victim in Pyramid Lake accident

Rescue divers searching the waters of Pyramid Lake found no sign of a possible second victim of a boating accident that left one man dead, officials said Monday evening.

Officials from from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said the agency’s divers would resume their search operation on Tuesday.

Rick Tanovan, 52, was found by deputies on Sunday floating near the boat, which had its bow sticking out of the water, officials said.

The deputies, who were alerted by a jet skier, performed CPR on Tanovan but were unable to revive him. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials said Tanovan lived in West Covina.

Department officials said there were no obvious signs of physical trauma and that Tanovan appeared to have drowned. A cause of death will be determined the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.

The divers scoured the lake and used air bags to lift pieces of the boat on Monday. The accident was under investigation.
