Man fatally shot by Santa Ana police in foot chase
Santa Ana police shot and killed a man Tuesday afternoon after a foot pursuit and altercation in a shopping center parking lot, authorities said.
Officers were called to the 600 block of South Harbor Boulevard about 3 p.m. after receiving reports of a man disturbing the peace and “possibly on drugs,” said Corp. Anthony Bertagna of the Santa Ana Police Department.
Bertagna said a foot pursuit and altercation ensued and an officer-involved shooting occurred in front of a juice shop at 622 S. Harbor Boulevard.
“Suspect was shot, died here at the scene,” Bertagna said. He was not immediately sure if the man had been armed.
